4 Natural Remedies That Can Clear Off Your Pimples or Acne Natural

Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, is a skin condition caused by clogged hair follicles from excess oil (sebum) and dead skin cells. It begins when the sebaceous glands, which produce oil, block the small openings of hair follicles.

This blockage leads to a condition known as clogged pores. If the pores are large enough, they form blackheads, which are small, flat spots with dark centers. When the pores remain small, the clogs become whiteheads, which appear as small, flesh-colored bumps.

Both blackheads and whiteheads can develop into painful pimples or deeper lumps called nodules. Severe acne can lead to cystic acne, where solid bumps form beneath the skin’s surface. These can become inflamed, tender, and sometimes infected.

Acne can occur not only on the face but also on the neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. It’s most common in teenagers, affecting between 70% and 87% of adolescents. Puberty triggers the increase in oil production as glands are activated, often due to a rise in male hormones, called androgens, produced by the adrenal glands in both males and females. This hormone increase makes the sebaceous glands grow larger and produce more oil, which can block pores and lead to infections.

While acne isn’t dangerous to health, it can cause emotional stress and leave scars if severe. Early treatment can help prevent long-term physical and mental effects.

Here are some remedies for acne:

  1. Lemon
    Lemon helps reduce oil production and clears dirt from the pores. To use, apply a slice of lemon to the affected area, leave it for a few hours, and then wash your face with water. However, lemon-based products may increase sensitivity to the sun, especially for those with fair skin.
  2. Aloe Vera
    Aloe vera contains glucomannan, which helps reduce acne scars. After cleansing your face, allow it to air dry. Apply aloe vera gel to the skin and leave it on overnight, then wash it off in the morning.
  3. Zinc Supplements
    Zinc is an antioxidant that reduces inflammation and fights acne-causing bacteria. It also helps prevent the overproduction of keratin, reducing the effect of hormones on the skin. Zinc supplements typically range from 2 mg to 13 mg per day, depending on age and health conditions.
  4. Garlic
    Garlic contains allicin, which has antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiseptic properties. These qualities help eliminate acne-causing bacteria. Crush a garlic clove and apply its juice to the affected area to take advantage of its antibacterial properties.
