Manchester United are reportedly showing interest in Lille’s goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, as manager Ruben Amorim looks to strengthen the team’s goalkeeping options. According to GiveMeSport (via TEAMtalk), the 23-year-old French player has been performing exceptionally well in Ligue 1, catching the attention of several top clubs.
Chevalier has been a key player for Lille this season, keeping 11 clean sheets in 39 matches and letting in only 44 goals. His strong performances have even earned him a spot in the French national team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League quarterfinals.
Manchester United’s interest in Chevalier is said to stem from Amorim’s desire to improve the team’s goalkeeping situation. The current first-choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has had an inconsistent season, prompting the club to consider other options.
If Manchester United decide to pursue Chevalier, the move would likely depend on Lille’s asking price. Reports suggest that Lille want at least €40 million for the goalkeeper, though a bid close to that amount might be enough to secure the deal.
However, Manchester United are not the only club interested in Chevalier. Barcelona, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly keeping an eye on the young goalkeeper, which could lead to a competitive race for his signature during the summer transfer window.
As the summer approaches, it remains unclear whether Manchester United will make a formal offer for Chevalier.
