I deeply admire her boldness and wisdom-Atiku commends Lagos corper who criticised Tinubu’s government

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised the bravery of Ushie Uguamaye, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Lagos. Uguamaye recently faced backlash for criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s government regarding the country’s economic situation.

In a post on his official X account on Sunday, Atiku described the corps member, who is known as Raye on social media, as an example of a new generation of Nigerian women who are unafraid to demand accountability and transparency from their leaders.

He highlighted that her courage and willingness to speak out reflect the same determination shown by historic female activists who fought for social justice in Nigeria.

Atiku, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), applauded her for standing up to power despite facing criticism and intimidation. He emphasized that voices like hers should be supported and encouraged, not silenced.

He tweeted:

“Raye embodies the spirit of a new generation of women who champion the ideals of popular participation and unwavering advocacy in the political sphere.

I deeply admire her boldness and wisdom—her fearless resolve to speak truth to power, undeterred by the weight of opposition.

She follows in the footsteps of formidable trailblazers like Gambo Sawaba, Funmilayo Ransom-Kuti, Margaret Ekpo and countless other women who have stood resolute in defense of the common good.

Rather than being met with hostility, Raye deserves encouragement and support. She is a shining emblem of the Nigerian youth—a testament to the long-held promise that the leaders of tomorrow are already among us, ready to shape a better future. -AA”
