A video spotted by Happen.ng online shows a man in the Bronx, US, casually eating a dead rat, leaving onlookers and the internet in complete disbelief.
The incident reportedly took place on 149th Street and Third Avenue in Mott Haven.
The video captures the man calmly dissecting the rodent and eating it piece by piece as if it were a normal snack.
Background voices in the video express sheer shock, with one woman exclaiming, “This is crazy,” and a man reacting with, “No, no, no—what the f**k? He is wilding!”
The video, first shared on Instagram, has gained more than 55,000 views, with people reacting with a mix of shock and interesting comments.
Some commenters joked about new viruses, while others sarcastically pointed fingers at politicians for the city’s problems.
City officials are now working to find the unidentified man, concerned about his health due to the diseases rats can carry. Kathleen Corradi, New York City’s Director of Rodent Mitigation, has warned that rodents can spread harmful germs and parasites to humans.
