Bandits killed five of the sixty-one villagers abducted three weeks ago at Budah Hausa village in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
It was gathered that 51 other victims were released on Tuesday following the payment of an undisclosed amount to the hoodlums as ransom.
A resident of the area, Benjamin Maigari, disclosed in an interview on Thursday, confirmed the release of the captives, saying five victims who could not pay the additional amount requested by the bandits were, however, killed.
According to him, the released victims are sick due to the psychological trauma they passed through at the hands of the bandits.
“As I am talking to you now, the majority of them cannot walk. They have suffered a lot at the hands of the bandits. During their incarceration, they were chained,” the source said.
“Very terrible; if you see them, you will shed tears because they really suffered, especially the men among them. 61 of them were abducted, 51 have returned, 5 were killed in captivity, and 5 others are still with them.”
He also added that among those released, two were shot in the legs while in captivity.
He said those who regained freedom and whose condition worsened have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
