    I respect England but I don’t regret choosing Nigeria – Alex Iwobi

    Alex Iwobi has said his decision to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles over England at the senior level does not come with regrets.

    The Fulham midfielder spoke about his choice in an interview with Kiss Fresh, London, emphasising the respect he has for England while noting that he feels more at home in Nigeria.

    Iwobi said football in Nigeria is like a festival and the entertaining atmosphere in Nigerian stadia gives him a sense of belonging.

    He said; “I actually felt more at home in Nigeria. Football out there is like a festival, it’s like a party. You go into the game, you see people blowing trumpets, and drums, it doesn’t even feel like a proper match.

    “I was like, ‘Yeah, this is where I belong. Of course, I have respect for England but I have no regret in choosing Nigeria.”

    The 28-year-old represented England up to under-18 level. He made his senior international debut for Nigeria in October 2015.

    Meanwhile, Tontrends reports that the Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi opened up about the beauty of being a Nigerian and what he loves about his countrypeople.

    The former Arsenal player said Nigerians have unique mannerisms which make them stand out, such that they are loud and can be smelt from afar. Iwobi pointed out that is usually those from the south-west part of the country that are the loudest.

    He said his favourite things is that people from Nigeria are welcoming, rich in hospitality and love to give back to the community.

    Iwobi further revealed that whenever he returns to Nigeria the food he loves to order is pounded yam and egusi soup.
