Another Explosion Hits Oil Facility in Rivers State

An explosion has been reported at an oil facility in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State.

A local source said the explosion happened on Tuesday morning at a pipeline manifold in the Okwawriwa area. Residents woke up to see a huge fire at the facility, which is located far from homes.

The pipeline is used to move petroleum products from companies like Seplat, Agip, and Shell, connecting ONELGA and parts of Imo State to Brass in Bayelsa State.

This explosion occurred less than 12 hours after a fire broke out on the Trans-Niger Pipeline, operated by Shell, which carries crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.

It is still unknown if the fires at both sites were caused by human actions. However, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed they are investigating the earlier pipeline fire in Gokana LGA.
