The victim reportedly stormed the Amarata/Ebis Mechanic area with some boys suspected to be members of the Greenlanders cult in search of a member of Bobos cult who had allegedly crossed them.
Residents said the clash caused serious panic in the area as the cultists who wielded dangerous weapons shot their guns indiscriminately.
Namabebe was allegedly gunned down during the crossfire.
Sources said suspected cult along the Apex Academy road, OMPADEC, Ebi Mechanic and Amarata end of Yenagoa vowed reprisals over Namabebe’s death.
Spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed the development.
He said the body had been deposited at the morgue.
Mohammed said: “About 9pm, one Chief Emmanuel Namabebe reported at the A Division that his 28-year-old son, Victor Namabebe, was found dead at Amarata area of Yenagoa. Police personnel from the A Division mobilised to the area and found the victim with injuries to the head.”
