Couple left traumatized after forced to sit next to corpse on plane for hours after passenger died mid-flight

An Australian couple was left shocked and upset after they had to sit next to a dead woman’s body for hours on a Qatar Airways flight.

Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin shared their experience in an interview with A Current Affair.

They said the incident happened last week while they were on a flight from Australia. A few hours after takeoff, a woman collapsed and died after coming out of the bathroom.

“Sadly, they couldn’t save her, which was heartbreaking to see,” Ring said. “The crew tried to move her to business class, but she was too large to fit through the aisle.”

Since they couldn’t move the body, the flight attendants placed it in the couple’s row for the remaining four hours of the flight.

The couple said they were not offered another seat and found the experience extremely traumatic.

NBC News shared a statement from Qatar Airways with the airline apologizing to the passengers.

“First and foremost our thoughts are with the family of the passenger who sadly passed away on board our flight,” the statement read. “We apologize for any inconvenience or distress this incident may have caused, and are in the process of contacting passengers in line with our policies and procedures.”

The couple said they were heading to Venice, Italy, and continued to try and enjoy their trip despite the ordeal.
