Cristiano Ronaldo is often seen as self-centered and egotistical, but his recent actions on the field showed a different side of him.
The 40-year-old demonstrated his leadership and generosity as Al-Nassr returned to winning ways in the Saudi Pro League. After a surprising home loss to Al Ettifaq in their last game, the pressure was on the Knights of Najd to deliver a strong response.
The team needed a spark, and as he has done throughout his legendary career, Ronaldo rose to the occasion.
Despite controlling most of the possession, Al-Nassr found it hard to break through Al Wehda’s strong defense in the first half. The breakthrough finally came thanks to their star player. Ronaldo, always sharp in the box, connected with a perfect cross from Brazilian winger Angelo, scoring with a precise header from close range, as reported by Bolavip.
His goal not only calmed nerves but also shifted the momentum in Al-Nassr’s favor.
Although Ronaldo’s goal gave his team the lead, Al Wehda remained dangerous, pushing for an equalizer. The turning point came when Ronaldo won a free-kick that resulted in a penalty after the ball hit an opponent’s arm in the box.
As Al-Nassr’s usual penalty taker, everyone expected Ronaldo to take the shot and add to his goal count. Instead, he showed incredible class by giving the penalty to Sadio Mané. The Senegalese forward had been struggling, failing to score in his last nine games.
Given the chance, Mané stayed calm, fooled the goalkeeper, and doubled Al-Nassr’s lead, according to Goal.
The victory moved Al-Nassr to third place in the league with 47 points from 22 games. They are now four points behind second-placed Al-Hilal and eight points behind leaders Al-Ittihad, who have an extra game to play.
Fans on social media praised Ronaldo’s selfless act, with many applauding his leadership and team spirit.
