In a surprising revelation, King Charles III of Britain has shared his fondness for Nigerian artist Davido, crediting the musician’s work with sparking his interest in Pidgin English. The monarch expressed his eagerness to try speaking Pidgin during his next trip to Nigeria.
This unexpected confession came during the debut episode of The King’s Music Room, a new Apple Music series that launched on Monday. During the show, King Charles showcased his diverse musical preferences, highlighting Davido’s track Kante, featuring Fave, as one of his personal favorites.
“Davido has truly inspired me to appreciate the Pidgin language. I hope to speak it myself when I visit Nigeria again. It’s incredible to see how Afrobeats is gaining global recognition,” the King remarked.
Davido, in response, shared the clip on his Instagram story, expressing gratitude and giving a nod to the royal family for the acknowledgment.
