When is the earliest date Liverpool can win Premier League title after Arsenal dropped points again?

Liverpool is getting closer to winning the Premier League title after an incredible week of results.

They secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, just a day after Arsenal suffered a surprising home defeat to West Ham. This put Liverpool 11 points ahead at the top of the table, making them the clear favorites to win the title in Slot’s first season as manager.

Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, has insisted that he won’t give up on the title race. However, after a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest and Liverpool’s comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle, even the most hopeful Arsenal fans are starting to lose faith.

Liverpool now has a 13-point lead. Arsenal does have one game in hand, which they will play against Chelsea next month while Liverpool competes in the Carabao Cup final. However, after dropping five points in two games, that won’t be much comfort to the Gunners.

Out of Liverpool’s 10 remaining Premier League matches, six will be played at their home ground, Anfield, including a crucial one against Arsenal. This means Arsenal must hope for a major drop in Liverpool’s form, which seems unlikely as Liverpool has only lost once in the league this season.

When Can Liverpool Win the Title?

Arsenal has 11 matches left and can earn a maximum of 87 points. If they manage to win all their remaining games, Liverpool will need at least 21 more points (seven wins) from their last 10 matches to guarantee the title. However, because of their strong goal difference, 20 points might also be enough.

If Liverpool maintains their lead, they could win the title at home against Tottenham on April 26. If Arsenal wins their extra game against Chelsea, Liverpool might instead be crowned champions at Chelsea on May 3.

The earliest possible date Liverpool can win the title is April 5. For this to happen, Liverpool must win their next three games, and Arsenal must lose against Manchester United, Chelsea, Fulham, and Everton. If that happens, Liverpool would match their 2019-20 record for the earliest title win (with seven games left) and break the record for the earliest date a title has been won, which was previously April 14 (Manchester United in 2000-01).

Liverpool and Arsenal are set to face each other at Anfield on May 10 or 11, but at this rate, Liverpool could already be champions by then—and Arsenal might have to give them a guard of honor.
