EFCC arrests TikTok star, Murja Kunya over alleged naira abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested popular TikTok influencer Murja Ibrahim Kunya in Kano for allegedly mishandling the Nigerian currency, the naira.

A source from the anti-corruption agency confirmed her arrest to Kano-based Freedom Radio over the weekend.

DailyTrust reports that the source was quoted as saying;

“The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, she will be charged in court for prosecution”

Murja Kunya, who started social media as a hobby, has now made it her full-time career. Her TikTok account, Yagayagamen, has gained a lot of attention, though her content has often been controversial, leading to multiple legal issues in Kano State.

Her arrest is part of a growing crackdown, as the EFCC has also detained other TikTok influencers, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, for similar offenses.
