EPL could have 7 teams in next season’s Champions League

The Premier League might have up to seven teams in next season’s Champions League. This could include the top five teams in the league, along with the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League, provided those winners finish outside the top five in their domestic league.

UEFA is offering two extra spots in the 2025/26 Champions League to the leagues with the best performance across all UEFA competitions this season. For the Premier League, this means the top four teams, plus the fifth-placed team, could automatically qualify for the Champions League.

Additionally, if the winners of this season’s Champions League or Europa League do not finish in the top five of the Premier League, they will still earn a place in the 2025/26 Champions League.

Currently, the top five teams in the Premier League are Liverpool, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, and Manchester City. This setup could lead to a record number of English teams competing in Europe’s top club competition next season.
