How can a Graduate with a job cannot be able to afford basic needs in his/her Country?-UK-based Nigerian Man asks

A UK-based Nigerian man, identified on Instagram as officialedweirdo, has questioned why a graduate in Nigeria with a job cannot afford basic needs in their country.

He emphasized that it doesn’t make sense for a graduate to have a job and still struggle to afford basic needs like rent, food, electricity bills, water bills, data, gas, and more.

The man said there is a serious problem if you work and still cannot afford basic necessities in Nigeria.

He pointed out that in the UK, where he currently lives, most people get married at ages 23 and 24 because, no matter the job, they can afford basic needs like rent and food.

He added that the situation is the opposite in Nigeria, where most graduates with paying jobs cannot confidently say they can cover their basic needs with their salaries.

The man mentioned that some graduates earn between 40,000 and 50,000 Naira monthly, an amount that cannot cover their basic needs.

He called out Nigerians who criticize people for expressing their frustrations, stating that they cannot stop people from voicing their struggles.

He revealed that when he was in Nigeria working as a banker, he earned 75,000 Naira but still couldn’t afford his basic needs. He explained that he only managed because he lived in his family’s property and didn’t pay rent.

The man advised Nigerians to look for side hustles since most cannot meet their basic needs with their salaries alone.
