Man arrested over Wife’s tragic death in Benin City just 8 Months after their lavish wedding

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man, Kelvin Izekor, for allegedly killing his 38-year-old wife, Success Izekor, at their home in Upper Mission Extension, Benin City.

The tragic incident happened on February 22, 2025. According to eyewitnesses, Kelvin allegedly attacked his wife with a cutlass, striking her on the head and causing fatal injuries.

Reports suggest that the couple, who married in June 2024, had a history of domestic violence, with neighbors previously witnessing troubling incidents.

In a statement on Thursday, Edo Police spokesperson Moses Yamu confirmed the incident, revealing that an angry mob attempted to lynch Kelvin before police officers intervened.

“On February 22, 2025, at about 10:00 PM, we received information that Kelvin Izekor, residing at No. 50 Upper Mission Extension, had killed his wife, Success Izekor. A mob was about to attack him when officers from the Aduwawa Division arrived,” the statement read.

“Upon reaching the scene, police found the woman lying in a pool of blood with deep wounds on her head. It took significant effort to calm the mob, rescue the suspect, and take him into custody. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.”

Kelvin has since been charged in court and remanded in prison custody.

Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, condemned the rising cases of domestic violence and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted. She emphasized that anyone found guilty would face the full force of the law.
