Mikel Arteta finally reacts to Chido Obi’s move from Arsenal to Man United

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that he played a limited role in the decision for young star Chido Obi to leave the club and join Manchester United. Speaking about the transfer, Arteta shared his disappointment but emphasized that the player made the final call.

“When a player believes that leaving is the best step for his career, there’s not much you can do,” Arteta said. “It’s disappointing because we always hope to see our academy players succeed here.”

Chido Obi, a highly-rated academy prospect, chose to move to Manchester United in pursuit of greater opportunities. His exit underscores the challenges Arsenal and other clubs face in keeping their young talents when rival teams come calling.

Although Arteta would have liked Obi to continue his development at Arsenal, he respects the player’s choice. The club remains committed to supporting its academy players and creating clear pathways for them to thrive at the Emirates in the future.

” Chido Obi leaving us for Man United? I wasn’t much involved in that decision. When a player decides the best pathway for him is to leave is not much you can do… Unfortunately, because we want to keep our players from the academy to be successful” Arteta said.
