A video has surfaced on social media disclosing the amount the University of Lagos (UNILAG) students spend on rent off campus and by extension stirred several reactions online.
In the video, a content creator identified as @boy6ix__ on video sharing platform TikTok went to the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG) to ask them how much they pay for rent off campus.
While the University of Lagos (UNILAG) is a federal higher institution, the University is well known to be a very expensive one compare to others and by extension the standard of living of some of the students can be compared to that of rich students in private universities.
The content creator @boy6ix__ asks a male student how much he pays for his rent off campus and he responds by saying that he spends N1.7M per years.
When he was asked how he was able to afford such an amount, the UNILAG student said he is a forex trader and that is where he makes his money. He noted that his house is a two-room apartment.
The content creator moved to a female student of UNILAG and the student says that she pays N670K per year as her rent. She said that it is a mini flat and she stays there with her twin sister.
The content creator moved on to another male student of UNILAG and he uttered that he pays the sum of N450K per year. He noted that it is a self-contained room and he stays there with his friends and they all contributed for the rent.
He also met another female student of UNILAG, the lady disclosed that she pays N820K per year. She stressed that it is a private hostel and it is a four-man room.
