Nigerian comedian and singer, Michael Lawal Nasiru better known as Nasboi, has said he will not be participating in the nationwide protest against bad governance.

The content creator explained that there is no benefit or fulfilment for celebrities who often lend their voices to calls for social justice and good governance.

Nasboi recalled how he received threats the last time he spoke up, only for him to share the messages online and Nigerians who were supposed to stand up in hi defence were seeing it as a joke.

He talked about how that incident strengthened his resolve to no longer speak up when it comes to protests or politics.

Also, Nasboi, who xray some societal issues during the 2023 general elections, attested to Burna Boy’s claim that celebrities do not get money from politics as many people assume.

Nasboi said; “Me, protest? Lol. The last time I spoke up, dem use threaten wan finish my life. I come tweeter come post the dm’s of threats, Na laugh people dey laugh for here. A lot of celebrities don’t get money off politics like you insinuate. Buh na just fear of being a scape goat.”

In reaction, @domingo_loso said; We actually don’t need the celebrities at this point, we have the Internet and social media to use to our advantage

@mideronke asked: Is Macaroni not a celebrity. Yet his voice is still heard. You for no just talk this thing o.

@bjsthoughts said: lol very senseless talk! How do you make money ? From@Nigerians who use their data to watch your skits and subscribe to your channels that’s why YouTube and facebook pays you, if you no wan protest nobody force you, you still cannot show solidarity with the people? If you don’t support the protest which is the will of the people, e better to just keep quiet!!

@mykehoneyland added: That’s why FELA is irreplaceable, he was ready to die for activism, literally watched his mother thrown off a building and didn’t stop, long live FELA and other activists that have died for the cause.
