Nurse who injected Mohbad three times gives a blow-to-blow account of Singer’s final moment in Court

Feyisayo Ogedengbe, a nurse who cared for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, shared her account of his final moments during a hearing at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Ogedengbe explained that on September 12, 2024, she was called by Ayobami Sodiq (also known as Spending) to treat Mohbad at his home in Lekki. When she arrived around 2:30 pm, she noticed a swollen cut on his right hand and gave him a tetanus shot in his upper arm. Knowing Mohbad had a history of ulcers, she decided to use paracetamol instead of diclofenac and gave him a 4ml dose. She also administered a slow 10ml ceftriaxone injection to treat an infection.

While giving the ceftriaxone injection, Mohbad started having a bad reaction. He began vomiting and developed goosebumps. Ogedengbe informed his wife, Omowunmi, who said this was his usual response to injections. Omowunmi then took Mohbad to the bathroom and poured water on his head.

Seeing that his condition was worsening, Ogedengbe and Sodiq hurried to a pharmacy to get more medicine, but they were delayed. When they returned, they found Mohbad outside, ready to be taken to the hospital. Because there was no car available and traffic was heavy, he was taken on a motorcycle. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

At the hospital, the staff seemed unsure about how to handle the situation, which caused some confusion. Mohbad’s body was brought back home by 8 pm, while Ogedengbe and others went to the police station to get a death certificate.

The case is still ongoing, with the next hearing set for March 21. The Lagos State Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has stated that Ogedengbe and Sodiq will face charges for reckless and negligent actions. However, musician Naira Marley, promoter Sam Larry, and others were cleared of any involvement in the incident.
