A Lagos-based pastor, Superintendent Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2, has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a 28-year-old man, Ogunbode Quadri Adedamola.
According to reports from Sahara Reporters, Quadri, a recent Political Science Education graduate from Lagos State University (LASU), was last seen on January 16, 2025. Before his disappearance, he ran a private business, Horlar Edu Consultancy, on the LASU campus.
A family source revealed that Quadri was last seen near the church premises while on a phone call with his girlfriend. Allegedly, someone called him from inside the church, and that was the last time anyone heard from him.
Authorities have detained the pastor, but he has not provided any information regarding Quadri’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, YouTuber Authentic Auntie Adunni – Triple A claimed that police investigations uncovered suspicious financial transactions. On the day Quadri vanished, ₦1.5 million was allegedly transferred from his account to the pastor’s. Babaniyeh reportedly stated the money was for “thanksgiving,” with additional transactions traced to his child’s account.
The YouTuber also alleged that police found evidence suggesting Quadri had been killed, his body mutilated, and his remains buried on the church grounds. However, the victim’s family dismissed these claims, saying there was no official confirmation of his death.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, denied any knowledge of the case, stating, “We have no such report.”
