A father has been convicted of deliberately driving his Mercedes SUV into his son during a heated argument over infidelity at a car wash.
Kamil Mohammed Nadir, 55, struck his 40-year-old son, Rebath Kamil, at the Local Car Wash in Dalmuir, near Glasgow, in July 2021. The incident occurred after Rebath accused his father of being unfaithful, according to Mail Online.
CCTV footage captured the moment Nadir, a former Iraqi freedom fighter, accelerated his vehicle into the car wash area, hitting Rebath, who was walking away from a car. The impact threw Rebath into a wall.
During the trial at Kilmarnock High Court, it was revealed that Rebath screamed at his father, “You tried to kill me over a woman!” The court heard that the conflict between the two began after Nadir and his wife separated. Nadir accused Rebath of telling his siblings that he had been seeing another woman.
Rebath told police after the attack, “My father said my brother claimed I’d seen him with another woman. I told him I didn’t say that—I only said I saw him with someone, that’s all!”
This angered Nadir, who went to the car wash to confront his sons, shouting, “I will kill you all!” Prosecutor Donald Davidson read Rebath’s police statement in court, which said, “I believe my dad was trying to kill me. He drove the car straight at me and hit me. If he wanted to scare me, he would have stopped, but he didn’t!”
However, during the trial, Rebath denied making this statement.
Nadir was found guilty of the attack, and the case has drawn significant attention due to the shocking nature of the incident.
