A trending video circulating on the internet shows some members of the House of Representatives engaged in a heated argument over the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
The incident occurred before the plenary session on Wednesday.
In the video sighted by Happen.ng, some representatives could be seen having a heated exchange.
It is worth recalling that President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on Tuesday night.
During a nationwide broadcast, President Tinubu suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and the state lawmakers for six months.
However, the Constitution requires the National Assembly to review the President’s gazetted proclamation within 48 hours if it is in session and within 10 days if it is in recess.
If the National Assembly finds the proclamation invalid, it will vote accordingly. A two-thirds majority vote from both houses—the Senate and the House of Representatives—is required to either uphold or reject the declaration.
