Popular Nigerian actor Uzor Arukwe has responded to people who label men who take care of their women or spend money on them as “simps.”
According to Uzor Arukwe, taking care of your woman or spending money on her does not make you a simp.
Uzor Arukwe recently faced criticism for his role in the trending Nollywood movie Love in every Word, where he played the character of an “Odogwu,” a wealthy Igbo man deeply in love with a career woman. In the movie, his character spends money on her despite her somewhat rejecting him.
Many men, particularly some Igbo men, criticized Uzor for stereotyping Igbo men, claiming that Igbo men are not like that. Others criticized him for portraying wealthy Igbo men as simps in the movie, arguing that this does not reflect reality.
Reacting to a comment, Uzor Arukwe stated that taking care of your woman or spending money on her does not make you a simp. He further explained that doing so makes you a responsible man. He also questioned how else one can show love to their partner if they cannot take care of their needs from the abundance of their wealth.
In his words :
” Taking care of your woman and spending money on her doesn’t make you a simp.It only makes you a responsible man.How else do you show love to your partner if you can’t take care of their needs from the abundance of your wealth ? “
