Tears flow as two boys drown in Delta Rivers

Two boys, aged 16 and 12, have tragically drowned in separate rivers in Delta State.

The 16-year-old, identified as Sylvester, drowned in a river in Owhelogbo community, Isoko North Local Government Area, on Wednesday. According to eyewitnesses, Sylvester was swimming with friends when he was suddenly pulled underwater. One of his friends raised the alarm, but attempts to rescue him failed. The friend then rushed to the community for help. Despite desperate efforts, Sylvester’s body was only recovered around 9 pm.

His friends, who described him as a skilled swimmer, expressed shock over the incident, saying they had swum in the river many times without any problems.

In a separate incident, a 12-year-old boy drowned in Ugbolokposo community, Isoko South Local Government Area, on Saturday, March 16. Details about this incident remain unclear at this time.

Both tragedies have left the communities in mourning.
