A Nigerian lawyer based in the UK, Dele Olawanle, has shared how two Nigerian women are now facing deportation after reporting their husbands to the police. They are now desperately searching for a way to stay in the country.
According to Olawanle, the UK government and local councils have become stricter on people who call the police on their spouses to gain access to public funds or take advantage of the immigration system.
He explained that last year, the two women had issues with their husbands and involved the police. As a result, they were separated, and one of them was given a council house in Leeds, UK.
However, the women have now been told they must either find a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or leave the UK. They are currently seeking help to reconcile with their spouses in hopes of avoiding deportation.
In his words: ” The UK government and councils are toughening up on those who are calling the police for their spouses to take advantage of public funds and the immigration process.
