32-Year-Old Man marries Ex-Classmate’s 53-Year-Old Mother

Isamu Tomioka met his wife, Midori, when he was still in school. She was the mother of one of his classmates and 21 years older than him, but that didn’t stop him from falling in love and eventually marrying her.

Their unique love story went viral in Japan after the couple shared their journey on a popular TV show. Isamu, now 32, first saw Midori at a parent-teacher meeting when he was a student and thought she was beautiful. Twenty years later, they met again, and he was drawn to her maturity and grace. He reached out to his old classmate to reconnect with Midori, but she initially rejected him, thinking their age gap was too big.

However, Isamu didn’t give up. After their first dinner together, he asked her out every day for a month, taking her to 40 different illuminated spots after she mentioned she loved lights. Despite her concerns about their age difference and what her family would think, Midori found comfort in his presence, especially after her recent divorce.

Her biggest worry was how her daughter and family would react. But when her daughter texted, “If I’m the obstacle, don’t worry about me. Just think about your happiness, Mum,” Midori gained the courage to follow her heart.

Although Isamu’s parents supported the relationship, Midori’s mother was hesitant, reminding her that she was now a grandmother and should reconsider dating a much younger man. But Isamu remained determined, insisting that love has no rules. To prove his commitment, he even bought a house worth 38 million yen ($255,000).

In July last year, with both families’ blessings, Isamu and Midori officially became husband and wife. Their story quickly went viral in Japan, with many praising it as proof that love truly conquers all.
