“A state doesn’t become dirty by itself, people make it so.We are part of the problem”-Daniel Regha tells Nigerians

Controversial media personality Daniel Regha has called out Nigerians for claiming that some states in Nigeria are smelly and dirty.

According to Daniel Regha, a state cannot become dirty on its own; people make it that way. He criticized Nigerians for being part of the problem instead of placing all the blame on the government.

In a series of posts on X, he pointed out that some individuals lack personal hygiene and don’t even use deodorants.

Daniel Regha mentioned that, as someone who frequently uses public transport, he can confirm that many people prefer to throw trash on the roadside rather than use the dustbins inside buses or tricycles (Keke).

He added that these are the real issues, yet people somehow expect states in Nigeria to smell nice. He emphasized that Nigerians are part of the problem.

Daniel Regha stated that a state doesn’t become dirty by itself; people make it so. He explained that some places smell bad because of the general population’s failure to maintain cleanliness, stressing that it’s not a problem limited to any specific ethnic group or state.

He said Nigerians should stop fighting among themselves while politicians focus on accumulating more wealth, as many people don’t seem to understand their priorities.

Daniel further noted that many Nigerians are quick to criticize other regions as if their own states are as developed as Singapore. He questioned whether any state can boast of adequate social amenities or lawmakers who are actively working on new projects for their constituencies.

Daniel Regha urged Nigerians not to act foolishly.

In his words:

” Even people that barely use deodorants or maintain a good personal hygiene will still be arguing over which states are the neatest. Raise ur armpit & smell it first, can someone sit close to u comfortably? That’s the question.”

“As someone who uses public transport a lot, I can tell u for a fact that people will rather fling dirty on the road side than use the dustbin inside a bus/keke. These are the issues; And u expect our states to smell nice? We are part of the problem.”

“Many of u be condemning other regions like ur state(s) is the new Singapore; Quick to blame one ethnicities like the leaders from ur tribes are anything to write home about. Remind us again what ur state govt is doing to make life easier for ur people? Can any state brag of adequate social amenities? The lawmakers representing ur constituency how far with projects? Don’t be stup’d.”

“A state doesn’t become DIRTY by itself; People make it so, and literally every tribe can be found in Lagos (in large numbers). Some places SMELL as a result of people (in general) who don’t put in the work to keep it clean. This is not a Yoruba or State problem.”

“Ever since this Tinubu regime started once the Yorubas defend their region it’s a problem; Like other tribes don’t do the same on a daily basis. Y’all are just hypocrites. “Lagos is smelling”…how about other states?”
