Actor and lawmaker Desmond Elliot broke down in tears as the Lagos State House of Assembly bid an emotional farewell to Mojisola Meranda following her resignation as Speaker.
Earlier, Happen.ng reported that Meranda stepped down just 49 days after assuming office.
Her resignation followed a meeting with former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, APC Lagos Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, and the state’s Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro. Shortly after, she was re-elected as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
However, the most striking moment came when Desmond Elliot, who was about to address the chamber, became overwhelmed with emotion and had to forgo his speech as he broke down in tears.
His reaction has since sparked widespread debate, with many Nigerians suggesting that, as an actor, he was simply putting on a performance.
