Social media activist Martis Otse, also known as Verydarkman, has defended a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was criticized for speaking against the Nigerian government.
The corps member, serving in Lagos, gained attention after posting a video complaining about the high cost of goods and criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Soon after, reports claimed that an NYSC official called her, demanding she delete the video or face punishment.
In response, Verydarkman showed his support on social media, insisting she did nothing wrong.
He reassured her that she would be fine and even offered to help her find a job if she faced difficulties due to possible blacklisting.
“I don’t even know why you are going for the NYSC. At the end of the day no work. Instead of you to spend that time working or learn a skill. Everything the girl said in the video was all true. We’ve all turned cowards. See the price of everything. They carried this country and scattered everything. This girl, they have blacklisted you like this, you won’t get a job. But don’t worry. If the going gets tough, and you try the private sector and they don’t employ you, come, we go find work give you,“ he said.
