How face yoga works (and whether it’s worth your time)

Forget sweating through regular yoga. There’s a new kind of workout that’s all about making your face and neck look fresh and youthful, without needles or injections.

It’s called face yoga, and it helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps if you hold a lot of tension in your face, which can cause headaches and eye strain.

The best part? It’s free, easy to do at home, and can give your skin a healthy glow while making you feel more relaxed.

So, What Is Face Yoga?

According to expert Danielle Collins, face yoga combines simple face exercises, massages, pressure points, and relaxation techniques to help you look and feel better.

Just like exercising your body makes you feel good, moving your facial muscles can lift your mood, give you energy, and reduce pain caused by tight jaws and headaches.

The Benefits

1. It helps slow aging

  • Your face has 57 muscles that need exercise too!
  • Strengthening them can tighten your skin and reduce wrinkles.
  • It also boosts blood flow and collagen, making your skin look brighter and firmer.
  • One study showed women who did face yoga looked three years younger after a few months.

2. It helps you feel good

  • The deep breathing and focus involved in face yoga help reduce stress.
  • It calms your body down and makes you feel more peaceful.

3. It eases headaches

  • Stress makes us clench our jaws and frown, which can cause pain.
  • Face yoga boosts circulation and warms up the muscles, which helps relax them and ease discomfort.

Is It Safe?

Danielle says face yoga is safe for everyone. The steps are easy, but if you have any health or skin issues, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor or a face yoga teacher first.
