“If it’s War you want,we’re ready!?-China fires back at Trump’s tarrifs

The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. has strongly criticized the Trump administration’s decision to impose tariffs in response to the fentanyl crisis. In a statement on X, the embassy called on Washington to pursue fair negotiations instead of using economic pressure.

“If the U.S. truly wants to address the fentanyl problem, it should hold discussions with China on equal terms. But if it seeks conflict—whether through tariffs, trade disputes, or any other means—we are ready to stand our ground,” the statement declared.

Trump defended the tariffs imposed on China, Mexico, and Canada, arguing they were necessary to curb the influx of deadly fentanyl into the U.S. However, China dismissed this reasoning as a weak excuse and announced countermeasures to safeguard its interests.

In response, Beijing has imposed additional tariffs of 10% to 15% on major U.S. agricultural exports, including soybeans, corn, dairy, and beef. China’s finance ministry confirmed the decision on Tuesday, calling the move both “legitimate and necessary.”

A wide range of American goods—including pork, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and dairy—will now face a 10% tariff increase in China, further intensifying the trade tensions between the two economic giants.
