Woman loses her life after jumping off the Third Mainland Bridge

An unidentified woman tragically lost her life after reportedly jumping off the Third Mainland Bridge into the water near the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront on Thursday afternoon. The incident happened around 4 p.m., and marine police officers quickly responded to the scene.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Friday. He explained that the marine police were able to rescue the woman from the water, but she was later pronounced dead by medical staff at the University of Lagos.

“Today, March 13, 2025, at about 1600 hours, an unidentified woman reportedly j¥mped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the water near the UNILAG waterfront at approximately 1500 hours. She was recovered at the University of Lagos shore slipway by a team of marine police officers stationed in the area. Despite their efforts, she was confirmed d+ad by a team of UNILAG medical doctors in the presence of officers from the Sabo Police Division,” Hundeyin stated.

He also mentioned that the woman’s body has been taken to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for safekeeping.
